Remember JEM AND THE HOLOGRAMS? Back in the 80s, that Hasbro's animated series was one of the most popular cartoons during its era. Now more than two decades later, JEM AND THE HOLOGRAMS is possibly getting a big-screen treatment sometimes in the future. At least that is what according to voice actress Samantha Newark, who played both Jem and her alter ego Jerrica Benton on every single episode of the hit animated series. Here's what she had to say below.
I know that Hasbro is revealing something big that has to do with Jem at the New York Comic-Con in a couple of weeks. We are all waiting to see what they have up their sleeve. I am like everybody else. Just waiting to see what happens.
No one has said anything about a live action movie yet, because no one knew what was going on with the franchise for a long time. It has been a big mystery, and it still is. I would hope that they kept some of the same writers on board, just to keep the tone of it. Who knows? I'm not sure what they have planned. I thought it would be cool if they did a really cool animated feature film, so that all of the actors could revive their roles. We're all not 85 years old, and we all still sound good. I think that would be really cool.
Additionally, here's what Newark is hoping for if a JEM AND THE HOLOGRAMS movie really greenlighted one day.
I would love to do a cameo in it. That would be so much fun. The receptionist at Starlight Music. Something cool. I think they are aware of my connection to the fan base. We just have an awesome rapport. I am sure that they are taking note of that. Who knows? Let's just hope they get on board with a reunion that includes all of us. Perhaps a retrospective? Maybe? They should get us all together so that the fans can enjoy it. It would be really cool.
