Veteran director Don Coscarelli is no stranger to cult classics. Case in point: PHANTASM and BUBBA HO TEP. Now take a look at his highly-anticipated new movie called JOHN DIES AT THE END (is that a direct spoiler or what?), a sci-fi horror comedy based on David Wong's novel. Check out the first trailer below.
Judging by the trailer above, die-hard fans will be delighted by Coscarelli's trademark bizarre mix of horror and dark comedy. In the meantime, check out the synopsis below.
It's a drug that promises an out-of-body experience with each hit. On the street they call it Soy Sauce, and users drift across time and dimensions. But some who come back are no longer human. Suddenly a silent otherworldly invasion is underway, and mankind needs a hero. What it gets instead is John and David, a pair of college dropouts who can barely hold down jobs. Can these two stop the oncoming horror in time to save humanity? No. No, they can't.
JOHN DIES AT THE END comes to theaters in 2012, and stars Paul Giamatti, Doug Jones and Clancy Brown.
