Donnie Yen Is Aiming For LAST OF THE BEST In 2014!

Of late, martial-art superstar Donnie Yen has been juggling various movie projects including the big-budget remake of ICEMAN 3D, his eagerly-anticipated return to modern-day action thriller SPECIAL IDENTITY (which is currently in post production) and his recently-announced involvement to star in CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON 2: THE GREEN DESTINY. Now die-hard fans can look forward to another Donnie Yen movie!

And that movie in question is LAST OF THE BEST, a modern-day action thriller in which Donnie Yen will begin shooting at the end of May for a 2014 release date. In this movie, Yen plays a former police martial-art instructor who is imprisoned after accidentally killing a man. When he discovers a serial killer is targeting martial art masters, he offers to help the police in exchange for his freedom. Wang Baoqiang, Charlie Yeung and Bai Bing co-stars, with Yen also serves as the movie's action choreographer. LAST OF THE BEST is directed by Teddy Chen, who last collaborated with Yen in the critically-acclaimed BODYGUARDS AND ASSASSINS (2009).

Johnnie To Is Planning To Make ELECTION 3... And His Retirement

In his recent media interview, acclaimed Hong Kong director Johnnie To is planning to make ELECTION 3 in 2015, which will mark the 10th anniversary of the release of the original ELECTION back in 2005. This is certainly a great news for die-hard fans out there since both ELECTION and ELECTION 2 were among the best gangster movies ever made in Hong Kong cinema.

In another related news, To has told the media he's planning to retire at the age of 65. Just so you know, To is now 58, which means he has 7 more years to make more movies before his retirement.

Joss Whedon Confirms Quicksilver And Scarlet Witch For THE AVENGERS 2!


So who's the new team members will be joining THE AVENGERS 2? According to IGN, director Joss Whedon has stated that he confirms Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch will be included in THE AVENGERS 2. Here is what he had to say about their involvement in the upcoming superhero sequel:

You know, they had a rough beginning. They’re interesting to me because they sort of represent the part of the world that wouldn’t necessarily agree with The Avengers. So they’re not there to make things easier. I’m not putting any characters in the movie that will make things easier.

THE AVENGERS 2 is coming to theaters on May 1, 2015.
